Euroforest fair in Bourgogne, the 18th and 19th of June: European Forwarding Championship

mai 7th, 2010

DebardageEuroforest fair is the first horse fair of silviculture and forestry exploitation in France. It welcomes you the 18th and 19th of June in the Saint-Bonnet-de-Joux forest (Saône et Loire) for the European forwarding championship.

This event aims at showing that animal traction is a reliable means to preserve soils and its regeneration or to lead small construction sites over short distances.

In France, about forty professionals only take part in forwarding activity, while in Belgium it is common to do it due to administration regulation which encourages forwarding.

The championship will take place in a production forest and will get around 30 competitors; Norwegian, Belgium, German and French team are expected and English, Slovak and Polish teams should participate too.

This event is organized by France Trait, the representative association of the 9 French breeds of draught horses.

If you need more information, do not hesitate to contact Mrs. Sophie Bougel at 0033 3 80 67 65 52 or to visit the France Trait website.

France moves towards Eventing !!

avril 26th, 2010

Being one of the hardest horse competitions, the eventing becomes more and more popular in France. In fact, with our famous French riders like Stanislas de Zuchowicz, Jean Marie Bazir, Jean Teulère and of course Nicolas Touzaint, this discipline expands over the whole country even for amateurs and young riders.

This discipline, composed of three parts: dressage, jumping and cross country, requires a real preparation of horses and also riders.

Nayades des fougères

;;

The dressage test consists of a sequence of predetermined movements in walk, trot and canter. The dressage test is judged on the suppleness and the fluidity of the movements, each figure is marked from 0 to 10. The quality of paces and the rider’s position, are also judged. Penalties occur when the movement is not executed.

;

;

;

;

Nayades des fougères cross

;The cross country course is the main test of eventing, which needs speed and agility to complete a course of natural solid obstacles. On the cross country test, if a horse refuses or runs out at a fence, the couple incurs 20 penalties points. If a horse refuses to attempt to jump a particular fence three times, they are eliminated. The fall of the competitors at an obstacle eliminates the couple, and any fall of the horse elimination. Riders are normally required to jump around the course within a set time. If they fail to do this they incur time faults at a rate of 0.5 point per second over the time.

;

;

Nayades des fougères jumping

The jumping test proves the good shape of the horse and rider after the cross country who have to jump around 12 obstacles without mistakes. Riders are normally required to jump around the course within a set time. If they fail to do this they incur time faults at a rate of 1 point per second over the time. The scoring for the show jumping is 4 points for a fence down, 4 points for a refusal, elimination for 2 refusals, 2 falls of the rider or one fall of the horse.

;

;

;

The final placing depends on the sum of the penalties accumulated over the cross country and jumping, added to the dressage score.

The eventing takes place in several places in France and gives rise to annual championships where riders obtain regional or national ranking in their category.

Do not hesitate to let us share your experience in eventing…
